 <p class=\\"p1\\">“I am Curious” is an exhibition highlighting artworks of all media from 13 Santa Barbara artists\: Erik Sultzer\, Tim Brown\, Nick Loewen\, Patrick Melroy\, Sam Fretwell\, Emily Halbardier\, Bessie Kunath\, Chris Silva\, Jared Flores\, Rimas Simaitis\, Ryan Bulis\, Katy McCarthy and Alison Ho. Each piece in the exhibition reflects a level of playfulness and childlike curiosity that disarms the viewer. &nbsp\;</p>

 <p class=\\"p11\\"><strong>Transmissions</strong></p>
 <p class=\\"p6\\">A solo exhibition by Rimas K. Simaitis\, Transmissions will investigate cultural relationships with space<br />through experimentation in the electromagnetic spectrum. FM and UHF (microwave) frequencies will be<br />at play in order to examine modes of contact\; sound systems\, radio telescopes\, coconuts\, cellular phones...<br />Developments in telecommunications have shortened distances between individuals and communities\,<br />prompting the creation and homogenization of unique cultures. Our island Earth is growing smaller\;<br />Transmissions will examine the symptoms of island fever\, and the search new forms of space.</p>
 <p class=\\"p7\\">&nbsp\;</p>
 <p class=\\"p6\\">This exhibition is occurring in conjunction with the UCSB MFA 2012 group thesis exhibition\, Headgear for<br />Tony\, at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum. The group exhibition runs May 20 - July 8\, with the<br />opening reception on May 19 from 6\:30-8 pm.</p>
 <p class=\\"p9\\">&nbsp\;</p>
 <p class=\\"p11\\"><strong>Bio\:</strong></p>
 <p class=\\"p6\\">Rimas K. Simaitis was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene\, Idaho\, and currently lives and works in<br />Santa Barbara\, CA. He holds a BA in Music and a BA in Business Administration from Seattle University\,<br />and is currently a Masters of Fine Arts candidate at the University of California\, Santa Barbara. He has<br />exhibited at SOIL in Seattle\, the Boise Art Museum\, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art\, and the<br />Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. He was a featured artist at Art Platform - Los Angeles in 2011 for the<br />opening weekend of Pacific Standard Time\, and has completed residencies at the Ox-Bow School of the<br />Arts and Vermont Studio Center. He has received public funding from the National Endowment for the<br />Arts\, the Idaho Commission on the Arts\, and the University of California Regents.</p>
